Dance

We are passionate about music and dance and can provide an engaging combination of the two for event organisers who would like to maximise participation:

Barn dancing with Silver Bough

According to mythology, the Silver Bough is a symbol of the spirituality of music: Cut from a mystical apple tree, the Silver Bough gave forth music which none might resist. Bedecked with nine golden apples which beat against each other making sweet melodies which lulled folk into magical oblivion.

The Silver Bough is also the name of a band of musicians drawn together to promote music, dance, song and story-telling. We are adept at working with past and present traditions and we value diversity and difference: from Ceilidhs for children, teenagers and church events to weddings, special occasions and for the elderly, those in residential care or attending day care centres.

We provide all you require for a joyful Ceilidh or barn dance, including caller, band and PA system. We play a variety of dance styles to suit all occasions – from the very young to the young at heart!

Morris dancing with the Adderbury Village Morris Men

Adderbury Village Morris Men (AVMM) are a long established Cotswold Morris dancing side. Highlights include:

Performing on ‘Son of Morris On’ (1976) – a classic folk rock album – alongside members of Fairport Convention and The Albion Band and a performance with the Morris On band at Fairport’s Cropredy Convention in 2012. We think AVMM is the only Morris side to feature in a full-length documentary entitled Way of the Morris (2011).

AVMM perform at a wide range of venues – from farmer’s markets and beer festivals to weddings and even literary events. We are happy to perform at festivals or other occasions.
